Open Spaces are under threat... AGAIN

Over 35 years teaching I saw so many school playing fields taken away and sold for development. Since 2010 the Conservatives have pushed ahead and sold off 215 school playing fields. Yet the NHS tell us that 20% of young people are overweight and we are recovering from a pandemic.

Even now as we struggle out of lockdown we are set to lose more open space and lack the pitches we need for team sports. Where is the sense in that? Here in Houghton, lessons have not been learnt. Look at what the Conservative Central Beds Council are planning for Windsor Drive. Yes, you guessed right - more houses!

CBC have a golden opportunity to develop and encourage outdoor activities on Windsor Drive. Yes, they must respond to other priorities they have such as housing. This is an established recreational facility in the middle of existing housing. Leave it alone.

I will do everything I can to support more recreational facilities and open space for us all.
